Cookie policy

Last updated 14 August 2026

A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. We also use a couple of similar technologies that are not strictly cookies — your browser’s local storage, for one — and we treat them the same way here, because from your point of view the question is the same: what is being kept, and why.

We set cookies that are necessary for the site to work. Everything else is optional, and we set nothing optional unless you agree to it first. You can change your mind at any time using the button at the bottom of this page.

Strictly necessary

These make the site work and cannot be turned off. They store no information that identifies you to anyone else, and they are not used for advertising.

sb-…-auth-tokenSupabaseKeeps a staff member signed in to the website’s admin area. Only set if you log in — it is never set for ordinary visitors.Session, refreshed while signed in

Analytics

These tell us how the site is used — how many people visit, which pages they read, and where they get stuck. Microsoft Clarity also records a playback of how a page was scrolled and clicked, which we use to find design problems. It masks text you type into forms.

Marketing

These measure which of our adverts brought you here, so we spend our advertising budget where it works. They are loaded through Google Tag Manager and only when you have agreed to marketing cookies. Which advertising platforms are involved changes as our campaigns change; at the time of writing they are Google and Meta. If you refuse marketing cookies, none of them load at all.

Changing your choices

The button below clears what you chose and brings the banner back, so you can decide again. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work, though some things may behave oddly.
